Two Things 1. Persepolis: Go out and get this book right now. It's the best way to get a basic overview of Iranian history over the last 50 years--from the point of view of a totally awesome, progressive, rebellious woman. It's autobiographical and really funny, and poignant, even though poignant is a really lame word. Don't worry, this book is not lame. It is educational AND satisfactory!!!
2. Persepolis 2: Get this one at the same time, so you won't have to pay shipping (I hate paying shipping), and anyway the first one is so good that you'll finish it in one or two sittings. This second one is about the author's return to Iran after going to high school in Europe, and all the trouble she gets in. Awesome!!
